Women's Health Physiotherapy Services

Our Physiotherapist Fiona Samuel has undergone further training in Women’s Health Physiotherapy, bringing these skills to Flex Sports Physiotherapy. Throughout different life stages, from pregnancy to menopause, changes in hormone levels as well as physical loads on the pelvic bones, ligaments and muscles, can result in women developing some of the following symptoms:

  • Urine leakage when you run, jump, cough or sneeze
  • Sensations of heaviness, bulging or discomfort in the pelvic area
  • Pain in the pelvic girdle (bony joints at front and back of pelvis)
  • Pain during sex

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, Women's Health Physiotherapy can assist through:

  • Pelvic floor muscle education and training
  • Manual treatment techniques for pelvic girdle pain (sacroiliac joint and pubic symphysis)
  • Urinary Incontinence, Urgency and Frequency management with bladder diaries, pelvic floor muscle training, lifestyle education
  • Modified exercise prescription during pregnancy and post-partum
  • Appropriate exercise program for abdominal muscle separation (diastasis)
  • Treatment for other musculoskeletal conditions post-partum such as wrist tendonitis
  • Modified exercise prescription for women with reduced bone density (osteopaenia or osteoporosis)

For further information or to book an appointment for this service, you can book online, email your enquiry to info@flexphysio.com.au or call our friendly reception on 03 9670 7041.

Occasionally for some Women's Health issues, such as prolapse, Fiona will refer you on to other Physiotherapists who are qualified to provide further assistance if other treatment options or devices are required to be fitted.
