At Flex Physiotherapy we believe a good bike fit is essential to address your comfort on the bike and your overall enjoyment of cycling.
A bike fit assessment is hugely beneficial to most cyclists, from the beginner who wants an initial bike setup and technique assessment to the more experienced cyclist who is looking to prevent or recover from injury and improve cycling performance or economy.
For the beginner cyclist we will target your comfort on the bike, ensure correct positioning to minimise injury and maximise performance. By starting out your cycling journey in the best position for you on the bike, you will set up ideal muscle recruitment patterns and reduce your overall injury risk.
How does it work?
We offer different assessment packages to best suit your needs:
Bicycle fit assessment
The bike assessment involves taking measurements of your current bike setup and evaluating these against your specific body measurements and movement capacity. We will use video analysis to assess how you integrate with your bike in a static seated position and then actively cycling. At the clinic we will use a wind trainer which allows you to pedal your bike in a stationary balanced position.
Adjustments will be made to your bike setup on the day as possible but if major mechanical work or new parts are required, we will write a referral for you with specific recommendations for your local bike shop to assist.
Cycling musculoskeletal assessment
A cycling musculoskeletal assessment considers and tests your body’s flexibility and strength in relation to the biomechanical demands of cycling. Following the assessment, you will receive a specific and personalised exercise program to address any muscular imbalances as required.
We highly recommend undertaking both assessments, but if you prefer, we will perform either assessment as a stand-alone service.
What is the duration and cost of the service?
We have a few options to best suit your needs. We recommend a single appointment of 2-2.5 hours for the cycling musculoskeletal assessment and bicycle fit combined as this allows us to better target your individual focus areas, however we understand this time commitment is not always possible. Therefore, we also offer a 1.5 hour bike fit assessment and a 1 hour cycling musculoskeletal assessment.
|2.5 hour combined cycling musculoskeletal assessment and bike fit||$280.00|
|1.5 hour bike fit assessment||$180.00|
|1 hour cycling musculoskeletal assessment||$140.00|
|1 hour bike fit follow up||$140.00|
If you book both the cycling musculoskeletal assessment and bike fit assessment to occur within two weeks of each other, we will view this as a combined session and you will pay $280 instead of $320. You will be charged whichever service occurs first as the standard price then you will be given the discount off the second service upon completion.
Please note that a bike fit follow up appointment is only appropriate for a client who has had a bike fit in the previous 6 months.

Can I claim this on my health insurance?
If you have extras cover through your private health insurance, you should be able to claim a rebate from your health fund. We recommend you contact your health fund in advance to determine this. We are unable to take responsibility for a health fund refusing to rebate your appointment or retrospectively seeking compensation for a rebate given.
