Women's Health Physiotherapy Services

Our Physiotherapist Fiona Samuel has undergone further training in Women’s Health Physiotherapy, bringing these skills to Flex Sports Physiotherapy to assist women with conditions affecting the pelvic organs including the bladder and bowel, as well as problems related to pregnancy and post-natal conditions. Throughout different life stages, from pregnancy to post-menopause, changes in hormone levels as well as physical load on the pelvic bones, ligaments and muscles can result in women developing some of the symptoms below:

  • Urine leakage when you run, jump, cough or sneeze
  • Increased frequency of needing to go to the toilet

  • Trouble emptying bladder or bowel
  • Sensations of heaviness, bulging or discomfort in the pelvic area
  • Difficulty controlling bowel motions and wind

  • Pain during sex

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, women’s health Physiotherapy can assist through:

  • Pelvic floor muscle education and training
  • Manual treatment techniques for pelvic girdle pain (sacroiliac joint and pubic symphysis)
  • Urinary Incontinence, Urgency and Frequency management with bladder diaries, pelvic floor muscle training, lifestyle education
  • Appropriate exercise program for abdominal muscle separation (diastasis)
  • Education and treatment for mastitis / blocked ducts
